STDs are Scary So Read This
STD statistics seem to show an upward trend year after year in the US and other places in the world. The increase of syphilis cases among men and women alike form a huge part of this alarming trend. If it is not syphilis then increasing cases of chlamydia and gonorrhea are also to watch out for.
Speaking about STD statistics, there is one thing to consider. There are chances that the current STD statistics do not have a number of undetected cases because STDs like Chlamydia rarely develop symptoms. Still, the growing numbers are frightening even if at times the numbers are understated.
The STD statistics then shows that many people around you may be suffering from either gonorrhea, chlamydia or syphilis. For instance, in 2007, chlamydia alone infected about a million individuals. That number was obviously higher than the one that was recorded a year ago. meanwhile 350000 men and women had gonorrhea in 2007. There seems to be more people getting diagnosed with STD year after year.
The STD statistics also show that the most common among STDS is chlamydia and gonorrhea. Chlamydia may not easily manifest symptoms but can diagnosed easily. The same is true with gonorrhea. The amazing news is that there is a cure for these two diseases especially when they are diagnosed early. On the other hand, if both diseases are not treated, there will be complications like infertility and pelvic inflammatory disease in females. In women, these STDs can also lead to health issues like pelvic pain or ectopic pregnancy.
Chlamydia rarely leads to complications among man but they can be infected and this disease also cause infertility. Oppositely, gonorrhea in men is even more risky. if left untreated, it can lead to infertility or it can travel to the blood stream and the joints. There have been worst cases that end up in fatality.
What is this trying to tell us. This goes to show that awareness about STDs should be increased. The key to avoiding the spread of STD is awareness and at the same time it also help you know what steps you need to do if you get infected.
With the heightened cases of STDs, more and more people should choose to exercise safety. The statistics is basically a reminder that it is better to monogamous as much as possible or avoid having multiple partners. It also helps to learn how to properly use a condom.
Moreover, people should also get themselves checked when they have a new partner. And if your partner had been cheating, get yourself screened as well. Take note that the statistics will continue to rise until everyone will do their part.
